1. The Model Y
If you’ve watched one of my videos before...you definitely know that the Model Y is coming out in 2020. I pre-ordered one, and I can’t wait to get it. Devilries should be in full force by the Summer of 2020, although we may see it a little earlier.
It’s a compact crossover SUV with 66 cubic feet of cargo space, up to 300 miles of range, and a 0-60 as low as 3.5 seconds.
2. Tesla Semi
Tesla announced the Semi all the way back in 2017, 3 years ago at this point, with a 2019 release date. Well, 2019 has come and gone, and no Tesla Semi.
The Tesla Semi has 4 independent motors, a .36 drag coefficient, a 20 second 0-60 when carrying 80,000 pounds, and consumed less than 2 kWh per mile. According to Tesla, the range is either 300 miles at $150,000, or 500 miles at $180,000, with a reservation price of $20,000.
3. Model S Plaid, and possible refresh.
The Model S has been out since 2012, and not really that much has changed. Sure, a lot has changed regarding performance, range, autopilot, premium interior, glass roof, and front “grill”, but overall, the design pretty much looks the same aesthetically, especially inside.
At this point, that’s 8 years of the same basic car design. So in 2018 we first heard of Model S refresh rumors in a year or so (2019).
What we do know, is that Tesla has been working on a tri-motor version of the Model S called “Plaid”. This would be the fastest Model S out there, specifically designed for the fastest times possible by cars in its class, and beyond. Additionally, it's likely that Tesla will go with a refreshed interior with a horizontal screen instead of vertical.
4. New Tesla Battery
For a while now, there have been signs pointing to Tesla making their own battery cells, instead of partnering with other companies. Tesla has a planned “Battery and Powertrain Investor Day” in 2020, and it’s expected that they will announce a battery that Elon has hinted at lasting for 1 million miles.
He said: “the new battery pack that is probably going to production next year is designed explicitly for 1 million miles of operation”.
Yeah, 1 million miles. Currently Tesla says that batteries should last 300,000 to 500,000 miles. So that is a big improvement. I hope this comes quick because I want this in my Model Y! Per usual, when Elon says “probably next year”, we shouldn’t count on anything. However, he has been doing a little better with deadlines lately.
5. Roadster? Maybe?
Announced back at the end of 2017, the new Roaster is supposed to get 620 miles of range, a top speed of 250+ mph, and a crazy 1.9seconds 0-60.
Now, we don’t know much else about this car, other than these crazy specs, and that the base price is $200,000.
I’m mostly curious to see if they release the Roadster because I know there are quite a few UZpostrs who are owed one by Tesla.

The old referral program that ended on February 2nd, 2019 had roadster discounts of 2% per referral. This meant that UZpostrs like Andy Slye, and Ben Sullins, who have tons of referrals, earned completely free roadsters, or 2 of them in the case of both of these guys.

However, Tesla went through “production hell” with the Model 3 after announcing the roadster to be released in 2020. So more than likely, everything is pushed back, and we can expect the Roadster in 2021. But I’m hopeful for 2020!
In any case, we should be swing the Model Y!! Semi, Plaid Model S, and model s refresh, along with the Million-mile battery, all in 2020.
Other than that, we know that Elon said quote “cybertruck is our last product unveil for a while...but there will be some (mostly) unexpected technology announcements next year”.
So as far as products go, nothing new to expect in 2020, but I’m excited to see everything that hopefully releases!
What are you most looking forward to from Tesla in 2020? Leave a comment below and let me know. For, it’s definitely the Model Y, and I can’t wait to get mine.

I sure hope the semis have their own charging infrastructure. I don’t think car and cybertruck owner are going to want to be competing for space or power with giant semi trucks at supercharging network stations!

Yeah, they have their own system planned for semi’s. Tesla owners would be furious with semi’s at their stations 😂

C Dun 9 oy oldin
Ryan Shaw thank you. It could be. All the rich old men at the club are fired up on it because it’s acceleration. They’ve never driven a tesla or if they did they had bias judgements cause they’re porsche and ferarri chear squad. We need those guys to buy into electric it’ll make an entire other section of society want an electric also. Think the taycan is selling they said it would be a while to get mine, so I’m really happy about that. But between all us techy folks, and I’m a physicist, tesla is the one there’s zero doubts.
Ryan Shaw

I've ordered the Dual Motor Cybertruck but I'd do a smaller/longer range version of that anytime. I don't haul lots of stuff or tow but I'd like a Tacoma sized Cybertruck if possible if not heck full size dual motor will be my truck but a Cybertruck for sure. I'm thinking of a model 3 lease in the mean time if lease is an option, What you do know about the leasing option Ryan?
cobrachannel100
cobrachannel100 9 oy oldin
@Quan Pham I think that order payment of $2500 goes towards your due at signing. I just quickly went to Teslas website and found the following numbers: $4.5 down, 36 mths, 10K miles a year, $677 a month. Purchase price $58,990. M3P, interior upgrade and grey metalic paint upgrade, no FSD. That is obviously excluding perhaps other taxes and fees, like registration.
Quan Pham
Quan Pham 9 oy oldin
@Ryan Shaw I found this page www.tesla.com/support/tesla-leasing. Well, no Model Y for lease yet but the model Y I'd configure runs about $60K. I used the model 3 performance model to push the price to $60K and this is what I have for a lease when it is available. $2500 order payment $6660 due at signing $770 per month for 36 months Total lease cost over 3 years to be $36880. That's a substantial chunk of cash without a vehicle or the ability to buy the car at the end of the lease. I'm going to have to push these numbers to our accountant and see if it make sense to lease and write off instead of writing off mileage for business use. It would be a nice way to get used to living with an electric car with out a long term commitment. Our family just did a road trip from Stockton CA to Anaheim CA to visit Disneyland...I have to tell you I loved being able to swoop into a gas station to fill up the tank in minutes. I don't care how many videos there are of people doing their road trips, I'd have to do a few on my own with my Tesla to get a true feel for what's it like. But than again, our family only does a road trip about 3-4 times a year...heck I can rent a car for such a trip or keep one of the three cars in the family an ICE vehicle.
Ryan Shaw
Ryan Shaw 9 oy oldin
I believe that the lease of the Model 3 starts at: $4500 down payment, $399/mo for 36 months, and 10,000 miles. And then up from there
Dave March
Dave March 9 oy oldin
I love the way you buried the "new battery" story right in the middle of your stream. Like it was a show on recipes and you were talking about sponge cake, cherries jubilee, we're about to engage in global thermonuclear war, and - oh did I tell you about the chocolate pie I made for Thanksgiving? If and when Tesla pulls this off it will be an *absolute game changer* ! It will mean electric cars will then be cheaper to manufacture than _ice boxes_ ! Not _just_ cheaper over the life of the car, as they are now. It will be the moment the oil industry is truly fearing !

The semi truck is the dumbest of them all. It’s not gonna take off. A small handful of companies are virtue signaling by preordering them but that’s it. If they came out with a Tesla box truck or even a day cab that would make sense because electric trucks will only work for short hauls and local deliveries. these trucks Tesla are showing us won’t work over the road, there is nowhere to charge them. Truck stops won’t install charging stations because they make there money selling diesel.
Tyler1989
Tyler1989 9 oy oldin
cobrachannel100 yes and that’s exactly what I said. For short hauls and terminal to terminal freight like fed ex and Walmart ev’s might turn out to be a huge cost saver for them but the vast majority of trucking is long haul OTR freight and ev’s will not work for that.
cobrachannel100
cobrachannel100 9 oy oldin
@Tyler1989 You maybe making valid points if Semi was targeting long hauls. However, I believe your arguments are invalid in this case, mainly due to the fact that semi is being developed for short-medium range logistics. Mostly, someone like Walmart from their distribution centers to stores, etc. That would be a targeted use case for the Semi. And the charging is going to be on-site per se. In that case, something like those bigger companies will own their charging station. That is what I understood from reading about the Semi when it was first launched.
Tyler1989
Tyler1989 9 oy oldin
theuncalledfor you clearly don’t know anything about the trucking industry or hours of service so I will give you a little slack for your ignorance. There is already a massive shortage of truck parking in America. I drive 700 miles a day and most days have to park on the shoulder of an on-ramp because there isn’t any parking left in the rest areas and truck stops. I never said there wouldn’t be anywhere to charge a semi truck there just won’t be any in the truck stops. Loves is one of if not the largest truck stop chain in America and have built hundreds of new locations in the last few years and not a single one of these new locations has been outfitted with electric charging stations. Not even on the passenger vehicle side of any truck stop in this country has charging stations. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know where these massive truck stop corporations stand on ev’s then your not very bright.
theuncalledfor
theuncalledfor 9 oy oldin
500 mile range, fully loaded (with reasonably aerodynamic trailer), with some reports even speaking of a higher range than that, and megachargers along the way (your claim that there won't be any is absurd, even if truck stops somehow act as idiotically as you suggested there's still plenty of viable locations, you might as well claim that personal Tesla cars can't charge because gas stations won't install the chargers). Electricity is much cheaper than diesel so it makes economic sense to use electric semis.

Same with the Roadster I hope. I think they are holding it up with hopes to releasing it with some innovative stuff like better and ligther battery and something's got to give there regarding that 250+mph top speed. I just dont see how they could do it with the current architecture of it being a single speed. What is the RPM of that thing when it is traveling at that speed? My guess they will come out with a multi speed gear box for that thing.

Marco Nierop
Marco Nierop 9 oy oldin
I hope for a smaller cybertruck for Europe.. I ordered a trimotor, but is way too big for me.. A model Y with 5000 Lbs towing capacity and 400 mile range would be ideal for me. But I am afraid the towing capacity of the Model Y will be the same as for the Model 3. Model X is too expensive for me. I expect some big improvements in battery capacity, and in price.. For the same price, way more range, or cheaper cars with the same range.. I think Tesla will start offering the bigger range versions at a higher price first, like the long range dual motor and performance version of the Y and 3 get the new batteries first.. or we get a choice, bigger range with new battery, higher priced, old battery with current range will get cheaper... For Tesla this is huge, because the new battery probably will be produced at much lower cost then the current Panasonic ones... cars sold with the new batteries will have very big margins. But you forgot about the other business Tesla is in, like the solar roof and home and utility battery packs.. I expect this will grow substantially in 2020 and will be a big contributor to Tesla's profit margins.

I can't afford them either, but I recognize that, like most high-tech, it will get cheaper over time - but ,frankly, I think new automobiles in general, including gas-powered cars, have become too expensive. My current car is twelve years old. I'll hold onto it for as long as I can because I anticipate the next one I buy will have to be used. New cars just cost too much now - and I'll still be paying $15k - $20k for a decent used car. That's nuts. The Model Y would be my pick if I could afford it, though. It seems to me to be right at the sweet spot of price and performance. I can't wait to see Ryan's delivery video.
