We have some new Tesla Updates including Roadster Updates, Tesla Semi Updates, and Cybertruck updates!
Elon Musk Jay Leno:
The full segment was a little disappointing, because the trailers gave it all away, but it was cool to get some Cybertruck news, even though some was out of date.
Elon showed Jay Leno the Tesla Semi which should should be way cheaper than driving a typical Semi.
He then showed Jay the Tesla Model y which Elon mentioned as being the SUV version of the Tesla Model 3.
Then it got really exciting when they looked at the Tesla Roadster. It is the fastest accelerating car Jay Leno has ever been in.
Tesla plans to add SpaceX Rocket Thrusters to the Roadster for maximum acceleration. It will be a cold gas thruster using ultra high pressure commpressed air that will drop the license plate, thruster behind it, just like James Bond.
The base Model of the Roadster will get a 0-60 of 1.9s
Then Elon talked about the Tesla Cybertruck, and stood on the back cover mentioning all the top features including the fact that the Cybertruck is bulletproof, and could mount a missile launcher on the back. They drove it through the boring tunnel.
Elon said that the Cybertruck is 5% too big and needs to fit in a normal garage, but this is out of date.
He said 3% change on twitter, with a 1.5% change in interior dimensions. Saying that it is still very roomy After all of this, Elon ended up tweeting:
“Reviewed design with Franz last night. Even 3% smaller is too small. Will be pretty much this size. We’ll probably do a smaller, tight world truck at some point”.
It will remain VERY LARGE
Regarding the Cybertruck Fail, or Cybertruck window break, Elon talked on Joe Rogan’s podcast saying that when it broke, it was because of the Sledgehammer breaking the corner. They should have reversed the order. In any case, the incident was overall positive for the Cybertruck with Tesla at over 600,000 pre-orders for it.
Electrek poll shows 87.72% of people who voted called it a net positive
The Cybertruck Suspension will be an All New Air Suspension
“We’re working on increasing dynamic air suspension travel for better off-roading. Needs to kick butt in Baja”
The Cybertruck will also handle water well:
“Yes. It will even float for a while”.
Regarding heavy rain or hail if it has to stay parked outside, Elon said that it will be “Pretty Much” Impervious to hail damage.
The Cybertruck Heat Pump will happen, as they will likely add it to all future cars:
“Will Cybertruck get a heat pump like the Model Y?”
“Yeah, and whole lot more! Aargh, I’m dying to make Cybertruck like yesterday!!”
Regarding the color of the Cybertruck Paint or Cybertruck Wrap, Elon said “You will be able to wrap it in any color or pattern”
It is not clear If this is after the fact or from Tesla directly, but it is clear that you can’t have it painted, it has to be a wrap.
Likely, it will be an all new Cybertruck Tesla paint/wrap shop wherever they open their Cybertruck factory.
Elon has mentioned a similar paint shop for Giga Berlin
“Giga Berlin will have world’s most advanced paint shop, with more layers of stunning colors that subtly change with curvature”
Likely going to be Tesla’s paint shops from now on, which is a welcomed improvement over their current and past paint issues.
Regarding a new factory, Tesla is looking to build the Cybertruck in Nashville, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas. It would be doing Cybertruck as well as Model Y, even though it is called the Cybertruck Gigafactory.
Tesla should be announcing it next month in June, according to Elon, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it later, and it seems like a Gigafactory Texas is the most likely option.
Top 10 States with Pre-Orders
California - 12.9%…obviously
Texas - 6.3%
Florida - 5.43%
Washington - 4.13%
Cybertruck is huge, it won’t fit in a garage, but why do you need it to? It will be launching in 2021 before the Roadster according to Elon on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
Lastly, there is a possibly Plaid Cybertruck.
“Plaid Cybertruck is what I will drive” tweet. Elon could be referring to the tri-motor AWD Cybertruck of possible a new Cybertruck plaid that would be even better.

The Cybertruck is going to launch 1,000 aftermarket companies making cool products and visual components for it. I just wish more attention was paid to the interior. The lame ipad display is not special. They could and should consider something like in the new escalade. Or have a look at the Lambhorgini SUV for inspiration for their interior. You will spend your time inside the truck. All three major full size trucks are stunning. The Ford, Chrysler and GM trucks are beautiful inside. Yea I know the Cyber truck is different but it has room for improvement no matter how many pre orders there are. Just look at this interior.

There's pickup truck loyalty but Tesla is one of those things you don't know that you need. My building contractor told me he spends $300 to $400 a month for fuel and can't wait to charge up a CT overnight at the cheapest rate and leave his garage in the morning without having to stop to fuel up for the day. Oh and not having to drag a generator or air compressor to each site and have it stolen overnight is also a HUGE plus.

The complaint of the cybertruck being too big is dumb. There are many mid and full-size trucks that don't fit into the average garage. The cybertruck is rated as a medium duty truck.

In my nearly 70 years I have never owned anything but trucks. I checked the measurements of the cybertruck against the dimensions of the truck I drive today. The cybertruck is smaller. As for garaging it ? Seriously ? It will have solar panels, it wants to live outside. My garage is a workshop. The truck can live outside. It does not even need a kennel.

If you watch Jay's garage, he has an overwhelmingly penchant for driving that way. As someone who drove a Gov't vehicle for 25 years it involves safety. IF no other vehicles are oncoming, stay away from parked vehicles. People tend to open doors without looking in their mirror. My sound stupid but if you get in an accident, YOU'RE FIRED , you tend to take extra precautions. Since Jay drives many rare/expensive vehicles, I can see why.

Wesleyashepherd 4 oy oldin
The renderings of the Cybertruck in the garages are incredibly misleading and incorrect. Take the Cybertruck sideways in the 3 car garage, that rendering is making it look as if it is 26 feet (312 Inches) long. Which is nearly 7 feet longer than the Cybertruck actually is, the actual length is 231.7 inches (19 feet 4 inches). For reference, a Crew Cab F-150 ranges in length from 232" for a 68" bed to 244" for a 78" bed. The 231.7" Cybertruck would be comparable to the 244" F-150 since the Cybertruck has a 78" bed. This means the Cybertruck is actually more than a foot less in length than the comparable F-150.

The ads on these videos are so obnoxious. The majority of the UZpost ads I see are super long so that I always have to skip them. It’s extra annoying when one starts playing partway through the video and I’m in the middle of writing a comment. You can’t skip the ads while editing a comment. So, you either have to let the ad play that you have no interest in or cancel the comment, skip the ad, then start the comment over again. Otherwise, just cancel the comment and just exit the video in frustration. Multi-minute long ads are crazy. If the ads were short, I’d let more of them play.

I hope Elon is using an updated version of the hydropneumatic suspension originally invented by Citroen. Self levelling, variable ride height active anti roll etc. The hydraulic power is available for brakes, steering or even door opening. It’s hydraulic with a pressure accumulator so very efficient.

They have to put the factory for at least the cybertruck in Texas. Texas sets the standard for pick ups. If they can get a bunch of Texas cowboys driving cybertrucks, it will speed up the adoption of the rest of the country. Their best bet for getting Texans to drive is to add a bit of Texan pride by having it made in Texas. I can't imagine they wouldn't put the production there.

I just wanted to say that I am so happy that the truck is going to stay the original size. I had trucks and not one of them fit in my garage nor that I want them in my garage. It would be nice to make a smaller version for those people that want to put it in the garage.

Elon may do that in the future. Lots of guys want a mid-size truck. I drove a Ford Ranger for years until I started a hotshot haul business with a Ram dually. Great truck very few issues with it and the Cummins diesel was a great engine until they choked the life out of it with regulations.

All you Tesla fans seem to ignore the entire reason EV's are required. Big on over crowded Freeways and Streets creates more traffic, consumes more energy and it's only got a six foot bed? My Truck fits easily in the garage keeping my tools secure and materials out of the weather. Doubt that will make a great daily driver for city folks and I know it's not geared toward the Trades.

Cybertruck looks fairly big, but it's probably not too big to own and drive in the city for lots of people drive Toyota Tundras and big Rams in the city. Model X is a fairly large city car which are so nice. I wish I had $50k or more to throw at a nice vehicle and then $400k more for a home of my own about 2 hours outside the city. I want the Cybertruck, but haven't ordered for I know need $50k or $70k by late next year which is a lot of money. I don't really understand how people are coming up with all this kind of money for it would require a consistent high income to handle that much credit.

If they want to market to truck buyers/owners, it needs to be full sized. I pre ordered it but if it ends up small (depending on how small) I'd cancel. Plus even my dodge ram 3500 with 35in tires will fit in my garage (deep 3 car and it uses up 2 bays if you want comfortable side room). My other ram 3500 with 37s doesn't fit. Both are kept outdoors as the garage is gym and classic car parking anyway.

@Ryan Shaw Love your videos and I'm a Tesla fan too and I'm planning on buying the Model Y as well. Just wanted to know if the 19" or the 20" wheels make any difference on the overall mileage and which one would you suggest? I live in a colder climate so what would be good for me? Any response will be very appreciated. Thanks. Take care.
Ryan Shaw
Ryan Shaw 4 oy oldin
Of course! I personally think that if you don’t mind the look of the hubcaps on the 19’s as well as the side, you might as well go with those. Best range, and best ride quality. The 20’s ride great and don’t lost that many miles in my experience, but if the look of either is great, might as well save the miles, efficiency, and ride quality

Yes, the Cybertruck is TOO big, they should reduce it a little as the days of massive trucks needs to go away! I with Tesla would smooth a few of the front and back edges a bit, while they're at it but, it's doesn't matter much, I'll never buy a truck.
tcirilli 4 oy oldin
Elon is like Henry Ford "You can have the model T in any color you want as long as it's black! He's building it in only stainless steel (which eliminates the paint shop costs and maintains cost of construction), after that you can do what ever you want with it!

I canceled my Cybertruck reservation yesterday and ordered a Model Y! The Cybertruck is way too big for me, it doesnt fit in our parking garages and country roads. I originally ordered it for its towing capacity, but now we know the Model Y has a pretty decent towing capacity of 1600Kg, that fits my needs way better! If that smaller Cybertruck ever becomes a reality, maybe I will trade it in, but we will see.. Model Y it is for now! I expect the Model Y will be delivered not sooner than second half of 2021, as the factory still has to be built (Berlin GF4, I live in The Netherlands) and I am pretty sure tens of thousands are before me in line.
